Here are the designs for my frame with hidden storage. They are free to download.
Note: I don’t think I used the right hinges for this, therefore my design omits information on that. I expected the frame to be heavier so I oversized mine. I should have used 1.5″ stainless steel but hinges, or something more appropriately sized. There are two documents; one is the overall design for something made to house a 16×20″ painting, the other is a detail of the profile.
